Vision

Community Involvement

During this past term of Council we had 7 committees of Council. These committees are great ways for residents to get involved with council to help move the Town forward on all fronts.

Financial Stability

Although we have made great strides in repairing our financial situation, continued diligence will be required to control spending and to continue to build the Town’s reserves to a healthy level.

Economic Viability

Coming from an agricultural background I have always felt that the agricultural community should be more involved with Town staff. As supply chains continue to evolve worldwide whether due to war or climate change, we must ensure that our municipality/Region does all that is possible to keep this sector of the economy viable.

Strategic Planning

In municipal level politics usually within 2-3 months of the start of a new term council meets with the Staff to formulate a strategic plan that will guide both Staff and Council for the rest of that 4 year term. I have participated in 4 strategic plans, one with the Region and three at the Town level. In this next term I will be including many climate change initiatives. From build it right the first time, tree planting and to continue going forward with the addition of electric vehicles for Town Staff. An interesting initiative I think would be to take back the naming of Town Streets from the developers so that we could then approach the indigenous community to help with names in their native tongue.

Public Safety

Throughout the Region and Pelham specifically we have many wonderful cycling routes to enjoy. I would like to continue with plans to establish a safe route between Fonthill and Fenwick. We have already applied for a grant to take out the rumble strips located along the sides of Canboro Road heading out of Fonthill.
